WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME?
Level's 3, 4 and 5 are
dedicated to our Water Confidence Program. Kids
will enter into this program either by having graduated
from L2, or by having a swim test conducted to determine
their level. It's in these levels where all four
strokes are taught and perfected: front crawl,
back crawl, breast stroke, and butterfly.
Historically, L3 is the hardest and longest level to
complete, because they have to be both technically
strong and have physical endurance to perform well in L4
and higher.
WHAT IS THE ENVIRONMENT LIKE?
For L3 students, we allow a maximum of 3 children
per session. L4 & L5 classes will have up to 4
children per session. By this time, students are now
safely swimming and are able to take instruction well,
which makes it easier for the instructor to perform
drills using wave and stagger techniques. With four
children, there is never an 'odd one out' and it makes
the social aspects of swimming more enjoyable for the
child without sacrificing quality, attention and
instruction.
WHAT WILL BE TAUGHT?
We teach the fundamentals of swim strokes such the front
crawl, elementary backstroke, back crawl, breast stroke,
the butterfly and side stroke. Students learn proper
breathing techniques and will learn the basics of
hydrodynamics and how it affects their buoyancy,
efficiency and fatigue in the water. As they move
into L4 and L5, they will be swimming more laps to build
strength and endurance.
HOW DO THEY GRADUATE? When a child is ready
to graduate from the CONFIDENCE program, they will have
mastered all of the strokes, met all minimum distance
requirements, and shown that they can tread water for at
least 2 minutes. Strong L5 swimmers will be
eligible for our
Advance Training (A.T.)classes.
